soom retreat
Breathe, Reset, become
Soom Retreat Center—meaning “breath” in Korean—is an extension of our vision: a day retreat designed to nurture emotional balance through tactile, sensory-rich experiences.
During the retreat:
• Mindfulness yoga to reconnect body and breath
• Trauma-focused mindfulness practices such as sound baths and guided somatic exercises
• Aromatherapy to awaken calm and sensory presence
• Tea ceremonies that honor ritual, heritage, and quiet reflection
• Group therapy circles for shared healing and connection
• Quiet alone time in serene, thoughtfully designed spaces
Rooted in holistic wellness and cultural resonance, Soom invites guests to pause, breathe, and return to themselves. Whether in the therapy room or the retreat garden, Hye Young’s work is guided by a deep belief: healing begins when we feel seen, safe, and supported.

Hye Young Kim
FOUNDER
Hye Young Kim, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor, educator, and founder of Hye Young Kim Counseling & Soom Retreat Center—a healing space where clinical insight meets soulful restoration. With over 17 years of experience in mental health practice, she offers culturally attuned, trauma-informed care that honors each client’s story, identity, and inner wisdom.
Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, narrative practices, and mindfulness. This blend allows her to meet clients where they are—supporting them in identifying patterns, clarifying values, and cultivating meaningful change. She creates emotionally safe environments for individuals and families to explore, heal, and grow, with a special focus on empowering parents and adolescents through group classes and psychoeducation.

YOGA TEACHER
Melissa Lutz Blouin is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher who offers people options so they can create their own movement practice, whether they have yoga experience or limited mobility. Shoshana Rosenthal
RETREAT FACILITATOR (MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR)
Shoshana Rosenthal, LMHC, is an independently licensed therapist and facilitator who supports people in reconnecting with themselves and understanding the patterns that shape their relationships. She especially enjoys working with those who have felt like the outsider or "black sheep" in their families or society, and with people who have spent years caring for others at the cost of their own needs. Shoshana brings a grounded, steady presence that helps people feel met without pressure or expectation.
Shoshana's approach is rooted in attunement and collaboration. She helps participants notice what is happening inside - emotionally, relationally, or physiologically - at a pace that feels manageable. Her facilitation blends clear guidance with room for personal exploration. She draws from her clinical background, nervous system awareness, and years of supporting individuals and families, offering a mix of reflective conversation, experiential exercises, and practical tools depending on what the space calls for.
